CYCLING.
WOMAN MAKES A RECORD. WELLINGTON, January S. Nearly 30 hours were clipped off her own cycling time from Auckland to Wellington by Miss V. Bail’d, who arrived at 8.45 a.m., taking 50 hours 33 minutes, compared with 79 hours 40 minutes in March, 1932. Although she had only four hours’ sleep, she looked remarkably fresh and fit. She had hoped to do the trip in 50 hours, but made a detour over the heavilymetalled Sanson-Bulls road and lost about two hours, which she had in hand. She said this would be her last attempt to break the record for the trip.
