INVALIDS' PENSIONS.
STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (Special to the "Guardian.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The intention of the Government to introduce an invalidity pensions scheme was mentioned by the Minister for Employment (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong"), when replying to a deputation from the Women's Unemployment Committee yesterday. Mr Armstrong brought the subject up when he was discussing the problem of what to do with those who are physically incapable of obtaining employment. "The country will have to carry the unemployables; but it is carrying now many more than it should carry. It is hoped to get over some of the difficulty by establishing an invalidity pension." Such a measure, Mr Armstrong said, was long overdue.
