STILL INCREASING

THE TOTALISATOR RETURNS. RISE OF £103,000 ON LAST YEAR. Totalisator investments throughout New Zealand for the last eight days were £103,000 greater than for the same holiday period last year. Racing contributed more than £BO,OOO to this total, and trotting about £22,000. In all £687,147 passed through the totalisators of the country in the period, compared with £583,143 10s a year ago. The greatest increase over last year’s totalisator investments was on New Year’s Day, when the total for racing and trotting was £44,500 greater than on the same day last year. On Boxing Day and again yesterday the increase was about £20,000. Daily Totals Compared. The amount passing through the totalisators each day since Boxing Day is shown in the following tables: —
