FICTITIOUS STAMPS
MAN FINED TOTAL OF £4O. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, October 18. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Harry Norman Crump, a valuer, was charged with having in his possession a number of fictitious stamps. The allegations were that he obtained perforated proofs of stamps from the Government printing office, and in two eases was successful in having the stamps cancelled at post offices with the connivance of the postmasters. Accused was charged with knowingly selling on February 9, 1934, a block of four 2s postage stamps to John Cheyne Riddell, with selling on January 1, four fictitious trans-Tasman air stamps to Daniel Frank Myers, and with having in his possession on October 4 fictitious stamps of the following cj,enomimUions: 185 s, 10 2's, and 7 7d transTasman air mail stamps, four sd, 109 3d, 22 6d, two 2d, and 103 Id health stamps, and 109 id stamps. After hearing of evidence tho accused entered a plea of guilty. He was fined £25 and ordered to pay costs on the first charge of selling fictitious stamps, and was convicted and ordered to pay costs on the second: count. For having fictitious stamps in his possession lie was fined £ls and ordered to pay costs. Seven days were allowed in which to pay the fines.
