ASHBURTON MEN’S CLUB BEATEN

TIMARU, October 6. The Cambridge (Timaru) Men’s Hockey Club’s team won the Walker and Hall Shield yesterday by defeating the Ashburton club’s team by four goals to one. The teams were as follow: Ashburton —C. Cox, C. Young, L. Snell, H. Harper, W. Ford, F. Taylor, C. Vincent, H. 11. Pearce (captain), B Coker, N. Willis, R. Moylan. Cambridge—V. Cooke, G. Annear, K. Cowles (captain), A. . McGarroll, A. Goodman, P. Stewart, A. Annear, S. Dobier, C, Mitchell, C. Hughes, L. Honey man. Cambridge scored first, A. Annear centring to Dobier, to Mitchell, who lost possession, but Honeyman secured and sent to' Mitchell, who goaled. Honeyman took a free hit, which was saved by the goalkeeper, but the rebound was taken by Hughes, who scored, making the score two to nil at the interval. In the second half Mitchell soon obtained a goal, and later A. Annear sent to Dobier, who found a gap in the defence. Before time was called, Ward
