THE WEATHER
FINE AND WARM TO-DAY Weather conditions were bright and warm in Ashburton to-day. The. sun shone in a clear sky, and the wind blew steadily from the nortli-west. The barometric pressure this morning was 29.54 inches, and extremes of shade temperatures yesterday and last night were 61.8 degrees, and 44.3 degrees.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: A depression has advanced w T ith unusual rapidity on to the South Island, and this morning was centred south-west of Foveaux Strait. The forecast for tins east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oama.ru is as follows:
Strong north-westerly to westerly winds of gale force in places. Weather changeable and squally, with scattered showers. Seas rough offshore.
