LATE MR CONNOLLY
REGRET AND SYMPATHY VOICED Reference to the passing of Mr Connally was made by the president (Mrs F. Curtis) at the first half-yearly meeting of the Mid-Canterbury Federation of Women’s Institutes yesterday. Mr Connolly had always taken a keen interest in the movement, said Mrs Curtis, and it was barely a week since the annual County competition for the trophy donated by him had been held.
A motion of sympathy with Mr Connolly’s relatives was also passed by the Mid-Canterbury Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union at its meeting yesterday.
Reference to the death of Mr Connolly was made by the president (Mr E. C l . Bathurst) at the opening of the Allenton Sports Club’s season this afternoon, and at his request those assembled stood in silence as a mark of respect. The relatives of the late Mr J. Connolly, M.P., received a message of sympathy from Sir James Parr (High Commissioner for New Zealand) yesterday afternoon.
