THE ELECTIONS
DUNEDIN CENTRAL SEAT. CANDIDATE WITHDRAWS. (Per Press Association.) ' DUNEDIN, October 3. Unforeseen business which will necessitate his absence from the Dominion during the election campaign have caused Mr W. H. Shepherd, Government candidate for Dunedin Central, to withdraw. The committee decided that Air D. O. Cameron be nominated. Mr Cameron intimated that he is favourably considering the committee’s request, and will make his decision known within a few days.
DEMOCRAT PLANS FOR TIMARU.
TIMARU, October 3
Mr A. N. Qakey, who was asked to stand for the Timaru seat at the general election in the interests of the Democrat Party, has declined nomination for business reasons. Air L. H. Frude, representing the Dominion executive of the party, said to-day that every effort would be made tc* bring forward a candidate, even if it meant introducing a man from outside.
