THE WEATHER
A CALM, BRIGHT DAY. After the boisterous nature of the weather yesterday the calm, bright day to-day came as a welcome change. The wind blew itself out late yesterday afternoon. The temperature was high yesterday, a reading of-72.S degrees being made. In the night the temperature fell to 36 degrees. The barometer made a sudden move upward during yesterday afternoon and evening, and stood at 30.05 inches this morning.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON,, This Day. The Government Meteorologist/ at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: The last of • the recent series of westerly depressions has passed eastward, and an anti-cyclone extends on to the Dominion. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaxu is as follows: — Light variable winds, but northeasterly prevailing. Weather fine and becoming warmer again later. Seas smooth to moderate. .
