Mr Oliver Duff, of Rangiora, editor of the “North Canterbury Gazette,” has been asked to contest the Hurunui seat at the general election, and lias agreed to consider the matter and gwe his decision Avithin a feAv days. It, has been stated that in the event of Mr Duff acceding to the request, he will stand as an independent.
