HORSES FOR RAKAIA

CLYDESDALES FROM SCOTLAND

THREE ARRIVE YESTERDAY. (Special to the “Guardian”). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The intercolonial steamer Waitaki brought to Lyttelton yesterday three Clydesdale liox-ses, imported from Scotland by Mr A. G. Holmes, Holmeslee, Rakaia. The horses were transhipped to the Waitaki at Melbourne. One of the horses is a two-year-old colt, Jerviswood Ideal, bred by Messrs G. and R. Findlater, Jerviswood Mains, Lanark, and foaled on June 3, 1933. His sire was Craigie Beau Ideal, and the dam a. well-known prize-winner, Jerviswood Queen, by Benefactor. His second dam, Queen of Hearts, by High Degree, was the dam of All’s Well. The second horse is a tliree-year-old stallion, Dundoff Cheyne, which won the second prize at the Glasgow Summer Show this year. He was bred by Mr James Cheyne, Upper-ton, Cairnbanne, New Deer. His sire was Dundoff Volume, and his dam was Buchan Beauty, by Benefactor; second dam, Upperton Daisy, by Gallant Stewart. Dundoff Cheyne is a striking-looking, weighty, black animal. The third ’horse is a two-year-old filly, Lady Orwell, bi-ed by Mr Campbell S. Crawford, South Branchal, Kilmalcolm. Her sire was Orwell, a son of the Cawdor Cup champion, Satisfaction; while her dam, Branchal Factress, was by Benefactor. Her second dam was Chapel Maureen, by Footprint Sensation:
