Goldsbrough, Mort and Company’s premises were still burning this morning and it is expected it will continue smouldering for a week. The damage is officially estimated at £BOO,OOO. The damage to railway property, telephone and electric light mains runs into thousands.

A total of 162 of Goldsbrough, Mort’s employees are thrown out of work.

The wool sales yesterday were not seriously interrupted by the fire, and it is not feared that there will be any shortage of wool. Arrangements have been made with the Royal Agricultural Society for the use of a show ground building for the accommodation of the large consignments of wool now coming forward from the country. Besides the three firemen, four civilians were injured and taken .to the hospital, but after treatment they were allowed to leave.
