VICTORIAN HOSPITALS
BIG GOVERNMENT GRANT. (United Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Sept. 25. The Premier (Mr A. A- Dunstan) announced to-night the allocation, of £1,000.000 for rebuilding, improving, and adding to metropolitan and country hospitals. The money will be made available by grants and loans. Of the total. £750,000 is for the removal of the Royal Melbourne Hospital from its present site in the centre of the city to a quieter position, which has long been advocated. To the amount granted by the Government, he said, the proceeds of the sale of the present site would be added.
Other metropolitan hospitals covered by grants are Prince Henry's Hospital, £90,000; the dental hospital, £55,000; St. Vincent’s Hospital, £40,000; and the Alfred Hospital, £90,000. For country hospitals £IOO,OOO is provided. *
