FREE PARDON TO PRISONERS.
FOR THE ABYSSINIAN ARMY.

(Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) ADDIS ABABA, September 23.
The Emperor is extending a freo pardon to 50,000 prisoners and fugitives from justice, excepting murderers, on condition that they join the army. Many of those pardoned have shown exemplary bravery and: served
with distinction in previous campaigns. It is estimated that Abyssinia is now able to mobilise over a million men, but it is impossible to arm them all with rifles.
