A STRANGE OFFICIAL DENIAL.
NO PROPOSALS MADE BY ITALY
(Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) GENEVA, September 23. .
Though the Committee of Five has not issued an official announcement of its rejection of the Italian counterproposals, such a course is stated to be clear from the discussions.
One member of the committee admitted that the situation was very difficult, practically hopeless. A strange turn is an official denial from Rome that Baron Aloisi submitted any proposals, but merely discussed with Senor Madariaga the Italian communique.

The Rome correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says Signor Mifssolini unexpectedly summoned his Ministers and conferred with them all day.
