NEW STATE COALMINE
PROPOSAL FOR OPENING UP.
TO REPLACE THE JAMES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A proposal to open up a new coalmine to take the place of the James mine, which is almost worked out, is before Cabinet. The Minister of Mines (the Hon. C. E. Macmillan) stated today that the site of the new mine would bo in the coalfield about three miles from the present mine. They had money in the State Coal Department’s fund to open a new but the construction of an additional three miles of railway restetl with the Cabinet, which had not yet come to any decision. The scheme was part of the long-term public works scheme now being formulated by an inter-depart-mental committee.
