FRENCH ADVICE TO ITALY.
AMBASSADOR CALLS ON IL DUCE

After conversations at Geneva yesterday between Mr R. A. Eden and M. Laval, in which the close agreement which exists between Paris and .London in regard to the attitude required by their common obligations under the Covenant was further extended, the French Minister at Rome Comte dc Chambrun) called on Signor Mussolini, on instructions from M Laval, and it is believed that he strongly urged upon the Duce to accept the basis of discussion drawn up by Senor Madaiaga, M. Laval, Mr Eden and their Turkish and Polish colleagues.—British Official Wireless.

Ethiopia was shocked and angered by Signor Mussolini’s rapid refusal of the committee’s plan. The opinion is
expressed that general mobilisation is now essential, but no order has yet been given. The continuance of the rains is delaying a possible Italian offensive.
