LONDON, July 12. ,Sprigs of white heather for luck were worn by the English women golfers when they left St. Pancras Station (London), for Australia this afternoon. The team comprises Miss Phyllis Wade, Miss Jessie Anderson, Bliss Pamela Barton, Mrs Walker, Mrs Greenlees and! Mrs Hodson (team managed’). They are approaching the tour in a spirit of high adventure, though they realise that, in spite of the fact that every player is an ex-champion, the matches in Australia will not be picnics.

Mrs Hodson explained that they hope to see the Australian hack country, with a day or two on a cattle or sheep station. “Yes, and the kangaroo in its native haunts,” interposed Miss Barton. The only match practice will be against the Willingdbn Club at Bombay. Critics expect that the team’s short (fame will be a deciding factor in Australia, as all are experts with the mashie and. are sound and reliable putters.
