HOCKEY.
CONGRATULATIONS TO INDIANS.
The secretary of the Mid-Canterbury Men’s Hockey Sub-association (Mr S. M. Cassidy) forwarded congratulatory telegrams to officials of the Indian hockey team this morning on the conclusion of the tour.
To Mr Behram Doctor (manager), the telegram read as follows; —“Ashburton tenders hearty congratulations to you and all members of your team on the successful conclusion of the tour. We especially appreciate the high standard set. Wish you all a happy voyage and safe return home. Au revoir.”
The following wire was sent to Dhyan Chand (captain):—“Ashburton congratulates you on your personal achievement, and. wishes you all a safe and happy return home. Au revoir.”
