WAGES INCREASE.
PAYMENT DEFERRED. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 26. At the request of the Department of Health the question of the granting of any increase in salary to members of the staff of the Christchurch Hospital has been held up. The Department baa asked that any action by the Board on the question be delayed pending an examination of the Board's estimates by the Department. The Board had previously decided on granting a 5 per cent, increase in wages. It is understood that similar letters have been sent to other boards.
