GOLF.
THE ASHBURTON CLUB. MIXED FOURSOME PLAYED. With the fairways and greens in excellent older and the weather ideal, members of the Ashburton Golf Club experienced perfect conditions for the official opening of the season on Saturday afternoon. The president (Dr. G. I. Miller) re : ferred to the satisfactory condition of the links and said that prospects for the coming season were most encouraging. A mixed foursome was played, the best card, 71 net, being returned by F. Madden and Miss Madden.
THE MAYFIELD CLUB. The annual meeting of the Mayfield Golf Club was held in the Agricultural and Pastoral rooms on Saturday evenini'he balance-sheet disclosed a very satisfactory credit balance. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr F. Tasker; secretary, Mrs J. J. Mulligan; vice-president, Mr G- B. Murdoch; committee, Mrs D J Morrow, Messrs J. Murdoch. J. J. Mulligan, and X,. 11. Harrison; captain, Mr J. Murdoch.
