MUSICAL CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING IN ASHBURTON FIVE PROGRAMMES LAST SEASON. The annual meeting of the Ashburton Musical Club was held on Saturday evening, the president (Mr E. Buchanan) presiding. The annual report reviewed last year's activities and stated that five programmes had been submitted. The entertainments ranked 1 as high musically, educationally and socially as any previous efforts. The attendances had been well maintained' and members had thoroughly enjoyed the evenings arranged by Mrs A. T. Smith, Mrs A. C. Williams, Miss I. Watt/Miss B. H. Brown and Mrs W. Thomas, Misses L. Lewis and M. Jennings and Mr and Airs R. J. Tucker. Thanks were extended to all who had assisted. A credit balance of £s6' 17s Id was shown in the financial statement, compared with one of £49 12s Id last year. The following officers were elected: President, Mr E. Buchanan; yice-pre-sidents, Mesdames P. J. Andrew, W. McDonald and Mr J. W. Wood; treasurer, Miss B. H. L. Brown; secretary, Miss J. Haslam; committee, Mesdames A. C. Williams, A. T. Smith, Misses li. Watt, L. Lewis, M. Jennings and A. R.uddock. Six new members were elected. The club agreed to hold the opening meeting of the season on April 27. A social hour was enjoyed at the of the meeting.
