MAINTENANCE CASE.

TED MORGAN IN COURT. "FINISHED WITH FIGHTING." (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. "So far as fighting is concerned, I am finished. I have had my day. There is no more money in fighting for me," said "Ted" Morgan, former Olympic champion welter-weight boxer, when cross-examined during maintenance proceedings. Morgan stated that he received about £l4 from his last professional bout last year. He is not in training. The matrimonial affairs of Morgan and his wife, formerly Norma Wilson, were again before the Court, when an application was made on the wife's behalf for an order for separation and maintenance, on the grounds of the husband's alleged wilful failure to provide maintenance. The wife did not appear, her counsel explaining that he considered it unnecessary, also that there was the expense of bringing her from Gisborne.

Morgan declared that he was willing to provide a home for his wife at any time she cared to come and live with him. He had not written to his wife since the divorce proceedings or asked her to return, because he had never put her out. He said his wages at present were £6 12s 10d a fortnight, and his living expenses about £4 10s a month, in addition to bus fares amounting to about 18s a week. The case was adjourned sine die.
