Excise duty on 'beer amounted to £548,000, compared with £545,000; sales tax £1,833,000, 'compared with £1,540,000. The total for the ten months was £8,587,000, against £7,455,000 during the same period in 1933-34. “These improved returns,” concluded the Minister, “have been achieved with no increase in taxation.”
