The annual sports of the Allenton School were held yesterday in fine weather. There was a good attendance of parents and friends. A number oi stalls were conducted, the proceeds from which will form the nucleus of a fund to build swimming baths at the school

The Herbert Smith Trust Cup for house points was won by White House, with Blue House in second place. Aw the conclusion of the events, Mr E. C. Bathurst (chairman of the committee) presented the cup to Cliff Sparrow (captain of the winning team). Cliff Sparrow thanked Mr Bathurst, and called for cheers for Blue and Red Houses.

Mr Bathurst stated during the course of his remarks that the proceeds from the staffs would form the nucleus of a fund for the construction of swimming baths in a corner of the school grounds. .said no election for the committee would be necessary, but at ,the householders' meeting in April they would endeavour to arrange a big effort to raise sufficient to pay for the baths. He considered that if a combined attempt were made there should be no difficulty in raising at least £2OO, and if they succeeded in this the baths should be in sight within two years. A good supply of running water wjnild he available. The sports were controlled by the school staff, assisted by members of the committee. The stallholders were : Ice Cream, and Sweets—Mesdames E. C. Bathurst, H. Rollinson, and W. James.
