RAID BY POLICE.
CHINESE AND EUROPEANS. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, August 10. Thirteen arrests were madethis afternoon, when parties of police from the Mount Cook station simultaneous; ly raided three houses in Taranaki Street, where it Avas believed pakapoo was being played. The police seized a quantity of paraphernalia and arrested five Chinese and three Europeans, all of whom were later bailed out, and will appear in Court to-morrow morning. Of these Chinese, three will be charged with keeping gaming-houses, one with assisting in their conduct, and one with being found on premises, a charge which also will be preferred against the Europeans.
