THE WEATHER.
COLD AND BLEAK TO-DAY.
With an overcast sky and a fresh north-easterly breeze, • conditions were cold and bleak in Ashburton to-day. A frost of 9.3 degrees intensity was recorded, although a thaw set in shortly after daylight. There were indications of rain first thing, but none was exr perienced. The barometric pressure at. 9 a.m. was 30.07 inches, compared with 30.27 inches yesterday morning. Extremes of shade temperature yesterday and last night were 45.2 degrees and 26.6 degrees. - TO-DAY'S FORECAST. ■. ■ / (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: The anti-cyclone is moving gradually off New Zealand, and a shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. The forecast fc. the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate "but ! freshening northeasterly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast and in places misty, with rain later. Seas moderate.
