HOCKEY.
ASHBURTON WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION. The executive of the Ashburton Women’s Hockey Association met last evening, Mr E. Davidson presiding over a full attendance. Correspondence was received from the Wairarapa, North Otago, Canterbury and South Canterbury associations and the New Zealand Council. The council forwarded a report on the conference held recently in Wellington, and this was referred to the executive to bring a modified report and present recommendations to the association. The other letters referred to tournaments on June 4. , It was reported that nine teams had been entered in the senior section and five in the junior section of the tourna-
ment to he held on June 4 up to date, and there were possibilities of further entries. It was decided to commence play at 10.30 a.in. DRAW FOR SATURDAY. Following is the draw and referees for the women’s and men’s hockey matches to be played in Ashburton on Saturday:— Women’s Matches. Senior Grade —Springburn v. Baring Square, at Springburn (Mr G. Bufton); Tinwald v. Lowcliffe, at Lowcliffe (Mr W. C- Bishop); Methven y. Kereone, at Methven (Mr A. G. McHardy); High School v. Rakaia, at Ashburton (Mr E. Davidson) ; Hinds v. Old .Girls, at Hinds (Mr E. M. Gabites). Junior Grade —Hinds v. Methven, at Hinds, at 2 p.m. (Mr E. M. Gabites) j Mount Somers v. High School, at Mount Somers (Mr J. Wylie). Men’s Matches. Senior Grade—Baring Square v. St, Stephen”s”. at 1.45 p.m. {Messrs W. Thomas and S. W. Gower); Ashburton v. St. Andrew’s, at 3 p.m. (Messto Thomas and Gower).
