GIRL GUIDES.
THE ASHBURTON COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Ashburton Girl Guide Association was held in St. Stephen's Hall yesterday afternoon, and was presided over by Mrs A J. Petrie (district commissioner). Mrs J. Hi. Grigg (divisional commissioner) was present. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr AV. Thompson and family The late Mrs Thompson was a inemb'T oi the committee. Mrs C. M. Pinfold's resignation as president was accepted with regret, owing to her removal to Ciunstcnuron. The secretary was instructed to wnte to Mrs Pinfold expressing the committee's wannest appreciation ot her work. A letter was also direa". <d to-be sent to Mrs Palmer Chapman, Mrs Pinfold's mother, who was a. gre-i* friend to the guides. Owing to ill-health Mrs Petrie handed in her designation as District Commissioner. Mrs Grigg expressed appreciation of Mrs Petrie's services. It was reported that Miss R Chamberlain had gained her Ranger Captain warrant, and Miss J. Ross her Blown Owl warrant. Several Rangers were rcadv to pass the Ranger star, and several Brownies their domestic badge. A competition will.be held shortly among rangersrguides and brownies for singing, music and elocution, at which it i! hoped many parents and friends will be present.
