LIQUOR SMUGGLERS.
CAUGHT IN THE BALTIC SEA. 'PLANE DISABLES MOTOR-BOAT. (United Press Association—Copyright). LONDON, May 28. The Helsingfors correspondent of the "News-Chronicle" states that coastguards, in a seaplane, sighted throe rr.en in a motor-boat loaded to the gunwale with contraband spirits. They descended close to the water and ordered the smugglers to surrender. The smugglers attempted to ram the seaplane, bub failed. The coastguards frustrated a second attempt by soaring into the air, after which they opened fire with ma-chine-guns, .riddling the boat and disabling the engine. The smugglers then surrendered and were heaved on board the seaplane and brought to Helsingfors.
The motor-boat was subsequently towed to. port.
