RIOTING RESUMED.

TROOPS FIRE A VOLLEY.

STRIKE VIOLENCE IN OHIO. { United Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, May 2G. At Toledo (Ohio) troops again fired revolvers over the heads of rioting strikers from the Autolito factory. People < living near the scene of the fighting are becoming ill owing to the fumes of the new "sickening gas," which is being used by the troops. The strike leaders eventually agreed to a truce with representative:; of the company/ upon the mediation of Mr Charles Taft, son of the former President, for the Federal Department of Labour. However, the truce was broken with the. rejection of the peace proposals, and rioting was resumed. The soldiers fired a rifle volley, presumably over the heads of the strikers, resulting in the grave wounding of one of the rioters. A National Guard officer was also wounded, ostensibly by pistol fire from the strikers. One civilian was battered. Skirmishes between the soldiers and the rioters continued throughout the day, with particularly savage conflicts from time.to time. Efforts toward an adjustment of the dispute were continued, the strikers, however, demanding as a preliminary condition the withdrawal of the National Guardsmen.
