BOWLING.
THE METHVEN CLUB. The annual meeting of the Methven Bowling Club,was held in the Town Hall yesterday, Mr A. E. Henderson presiding over a fair attendance. The report stated that the club had experienced an enjoyable season. A team had been entered in the Bullock Pennant competition, and although it did not meet with much success, some enjoyable games were played. Two rinks had represented the club in the Town y. Country match, played at Christchurch, and the club had also been represented at the Ashburton County Championships played at Rakaia. Financially, the club was in a better position. The year commenced with a debit balance of £3B 7s 4d, and ended with a debit of £24 17® 4d, which could be considered satisfactory. Two new members were elected. The election of officers resulted as follow: Patron, Mr W. Morgan; president, Mr E. F. Ward; vice-presi-dents, Messrs R. F. Renai and H. E. Thompson; hon. secretary, Mr W. Booth; hon. treasurer, Mr R. F. Renai; committee, Messrs J. A. Callaghan, A. E. Henderson, W, C. Lowery, W. J. Cooksley, J. Watson and E. J. R. Beattie;' delegate to Christchurch Bowling Centre, Mr F. E. Barrett; delegates to Ashburton Sub-Associa-tion, Messrs E. F. Ward and R. F. Renai; green superintendent, Mr A. E. Henderson. It was decided to enter a team in the Bullock Pennant competition. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 14. A vote of thanks was passed to the outgoing officials and committee.
