WRESTLING.
RUMBERG DEFEATS PEREIRA DUNEDIN, August 28. _ Hal Rumberg added another to his list of successes over A 1 Pereira at the Town Hall to-night, when, following a heavy dump, Pereira had to be. assisted froip the ring suffering from injuries to his neck.
The bout was oiie of .the best seen in Dunedin, both men introducing a. variety of holds and moving with remarkable speed for their .size. The first four rounds were very evenly contested, though Pereira was doing most of the attacking. In the fifth round Pereira brought Rumfierg to the mat with a back loop slam and using a body press forced Rumberg’s shoulders to the mat. It was early in the next round that Riimberg sprang in to the attack, and, catching Pereira off his guard, lifted him into the air and dumped him down on. his neck. When the referee dragged the two men apart after awarding the fall to Rum berg, Pereira was unable to rise and he had to be assisted .to his corner.
Pereira was unable to take the ring at the gong and the bout therefore went to Rum berg, who watched with some concern as nis opponent left the ring between his second and a policeman, his head bowed and obviously badly dazed.
