ROYALTY ON REPRODUCTION (United Press Association—Copyright). LONDON, April 5. Mr Justice Maugham in the Chancery I Division, gave judgment in favour of the Performing Eights Association, in a test against Hammond s, a Bradford brewery company. The judgment said that loud-speaker reproductions of the Broadcasting Corporation s broadcasts in hotels and places of entertainment infringed copyright and constituted a new performance entitling the owners of the copyright to royalties. The decision involves a large sum in royalties.
