DOMESTIC TROUBLE.
HUSBAND'S DRINKING HABITS. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 31. “Considering that they have managed to live together for over 23 years, the wife should show more forbearance toward her husband,” remarked the Magistrate (Dir Wyvern Wilson) at Hamilton, in striking out the application of Elsie May Donovan for separation and guardianship orders against her husband, William Daniel Donovan. The applicant attributed domestic differences to her husband’s drinking habits and said that she had had to go out to work to keep the house going. The husband denied that drink was the cause and said that his wife had been going about with another man. The Dlagistrate: Perhaps the other man does not drink? The husband: No, he doesn’t. 'l’lie Dlagistrate: Perhaps if you stop drinking you will be able to cut out the other man. Complainant, from the back of the Court, called out that she would never return to her husband after the scandal lie had involved her in. The Dlagistrate, in dismissing the application, suggested that the husband sstop drinking and the pair might patch up their differences. The husband had as much right to the children as the wife, and the proper place for them was at home.
