TINWALD STOCK MARKET. PRICES RULING TO-DAY. EARLY SALE THIS WEEK. Held a day earlier because of the general holiday to-morrow, the weekly stock sale at the Tinwald saleyards today attracted only a fair attendance of buyers. The quality and price were about on a par with last week at the Ashburton yards. Four big-framed ewes offered on account of the Coldstream Estate brought 23s 7d, but the primest ewes were sold on account of Mr F. Vessey, of Tinwald, who got 20s Id for nine and 17s Id-far 10. Mr R. G. Maidens, of Hinds, received 17s for five and 15s 3d for five. Mr H. Millar, of Tinwald, topped the wethers with 23s 7d for four, while Mr Maidens got 23s 4d for seven. There was a fair yarding of store sheep, also of lambs. Values to mid-day were:— ‘

Aged ewes: Nineteen at 5s lOd, 4 at 4s 6d, 10 at 3s 7d. Fat Wethers —Four at 23s 7d, 3 at 20s 7d, 7 at 23s 4d, 5 at 16s 6d. Fat Lambs —Eight at 20s lOd, 1 at 22s 4d.

Cattle —Butchers were not operating at the cattle pens, where 30 head were yarded. Some particularly well-bred young heifers and steers were offered on account of Barr’s Estate, Waterton, but all were passed at auction. T\Vo nice springing heifers offered on account of Mr G. H. B. Lill (Willow by) sold at £7 15s each. Sales effected were: Fat cows, £8 10s, £8 15s, £7 15s; fat lieifers, £6, £7 10s. Stores: Springing cows, £2 10s, £6 15s; springing heifer, £7 15s; cow in - »-ofit, £2 10s; empty cow, £2; empty heifer (poor condition), £1 10s; heifers in profit, £6 (poof condition) and £2 2s 6d.
