OBITUARY.
MR W. TINDALL WEBSTER. Mr William Tindall Webster, clerk to the Mount Somers Road Board, died suddenly at his residence, Mount Somers, on Saturday evening, succumbing after a long period of indifferent health. . Deceased was in his 75th year, having been born in 1856 at Liverpool. England. He came to New Zealand in the s.s. British Queen, and joined his brothers in the wool trade, in wliicn capacity he had gained considerable experience before leaving his natn e country. In 1890 he leased the Hakatere wool scouring works at Mount Somers, and later took over the Mesopotamia wool scour, with which works he continued for over 20 years. Since lelinquishing the wool trade about 16 years ago, he was clerk and overseer to the Mount Somers Road Board, in addition to being secretary of the Pukewaro Telephone Company, and Mount Somers Domain Board. He served as vestryman in the Church of England and has acted as the Church’s auditor for several years. Mrs Webster, who was formerly Miss Dunbar, predeceased Mr Webster about seven years ago. Mr Webster leaves an adult family of two daughters, Misses A. Webster (Mount Somers) and D. Webster (Amuri), and two sons, Messrs T. Webster (Ashburton), and R. Webster (Canterbury College). The funeral will take place at Mount Somers to-morrow afternoon. As a mark of respect to deceased, the school flag was flown at half-mast to-day.
