Mr R. L. Stephenson, of Ashburton, left for Christchurch this afternoon to enter Lewisham Hospital, where he will undergo a minor operation.
Mr F. W. Watt, who underwent a minor operation yesterday, is making good progress, and to be able to resume business on Wednesday.
Mr W. J. Sparrow, who has been seriously ill in the Ashburton Public Hospital for some time, was reported to-day to be in much the same condition.
Mr Russell J. Laurenson, of Ashburton, will take the bass solo parts in the “Dream of Gerontius” (Elgar), which will be performed by the Royal Christchurch Musical Society in the Municipal Concert Hall this evening.
The Rev. Dr. R. Erwin, of Christchurch, who slipped and fractured a thigh early last week, is reported to be progressing slowly. While Dr. Erwin was walking ‘in his garden he put one foot on a slippery piece of guttering. He was removed to a private hospital.
Mr H. Morris left for Dunedin by the express train this morning. He will spend several days in the south, and will represent the Ashburton A. and P. Association at a conference of kindred associations called by the Otago Association to discuss judges fees°and the fixing of show dates.
