PLUNKET SOCIETY.
THE TINWALD BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Tinwald Sub-branch of the Plunket Society was lielcl in the Parish Hall. Mrs Laing and Miss Gates, from the Ashburton Centro, were present. Last year’s work was considered satisfactory. The nurse reported visits to homes 117 and new cases (all breastfed) 9. The health of the babies was excellent.
The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l3 18s Gd.
Mrs Laing spoke of the need of new permanent rooms in Ashburton, and of the wonderful growth of the work of the Society all over the world from the experiments made by Sir Truby King 23 years ago, when he called the womanhood of New Zealand, headed by Lady Plunket, to liel« him. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs T. Wilson; secretary, Mrs C. Jennings; treasurer, Mrs Hight; committee, Mesdames G. L. Harold, J. H. Harper, J, Clark, H. Bell, T. Woolley, A. Millichamp, H. Millichamp, Macmillan, J. Mclntyre, Hardy and Nurse Loy.
