Admiral Byrd arrived in Wellington yesterday, and was accorded a civic reception.
Mr H. D'. Johnston will leave for Wellington this evening to represent the Ashburton Rugby Union at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rug* by Union which will commence to-mor-row and conclude on Friday.
Mr A. D. Bruce, who last August completed 63. years in the service of the “New Zealand Herald,” and is this month retiring from the position of sporting editor, was yesterday elected a life member of the Auckland Racing Club. Mr Bruce will continue to write as “Plueton,” and next September will complete 50 years writing under that pen name (says a Press Association message from Auckland).
