THE WEATHER.
FORTY-SIX POINTS OF RAIN. \ Light rain fell yesterday afternoon, and, increasing in volume, continued throughout the nmht, 46 points being recorded at 9 o’clock this morning. A fine drizzle fell this morning, but toward noon the sun shone faintly through the dark clouds for a short period Threatening conditions prevailed throughout the remainder of the afternoon. The barometric pressure at 9- o’clock this morning was 29.71 inches, a decrease of 12 points on yesterday. The extreme temperatures yesterday were 64.2 and 60.3, as against 69 and 42.6 on Monday. Seventy-six poiijts of rain fell at Methven last night. The weather is now fine. TO-DAY’S FORECAST.
The following weather forecast was issued to-day:— Indications are for variable and moderate breezes,' northerly moderate winds nrevailing. The weather nopenrs likelv to he cloudy and. unsettled, with scattered showers, but weather improving. Temporarily mild temperatures. Barometer unsteady.
