A message from Cambridge states that Professor Harlow Shapley (Director of Harvard Observatory) announced to-day that advice from the Lowell Observatory at Flagstaff (Arizona) reported the discovery of a ninth planet in the solar system beyond Neptune. The planet is probably larger than the earth, but smaller than Uranus. Neptune, the outermost and largest planet of the system, has a mean distance from the sun of 2791.6 million miles.
