KILLING RESUMED.

ISLINGTON FREEZING WORKS. (Special to the "Guardian.") ' CHRISTCHURCH, March 13. "The men are working to-day, and are working well," Mr H. S. E. Turner, secretary to the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, said this morning. A stop-work meeting was held at Islington on Tuesday, and butchers did no killing yesterday, but Mr .Turner said that there was nothing in the nature of a strike. He regretted that the word had been used in print. The secretarv of the Freezmgworkers' Union, Mr H. C. Revell, said that there was no suggestion of a strike. The reason for some of the -men being in town yesterday was probably that they had come in to consult thensolicitors. Inquiries at the works this morning showed that, killing had been resumed as usual. The Labour Department took the matter iip, the cause of the trouble being a disagreement between the men and the company over the hours to be worked on Saturdays. It has been the habit of the men to knock off work at 11 a.m. on Saturdays but the company now insists on its' right to demand work till noon. The case will be heard in the Magistrate's Court next week.
