SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
CONFERENCE CONCLUDED. (Per Press Association.) ' TIMARU, March 13. The Conference of the South Island Federation of School Committees' Associations was concluded to-day. The conference reaffirmed its opposition to junior high 'schools. The conference also endorsed the South Canterbury School Committees' Association's proppsal that more active steps should be taken to organise school committees throughout the Dominion and present a united It was also decided to await publication of the report of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, and if necessary to call an emergency conference to consider the proposals. The executive was instructed to draw up a common platform, which would be acceptable to the various associations.
