DAIRY REGULATIONS.
ENFORCEMENT OF CLEANLINESS
REMIT BY THE CONFERENCE. DUNEDIN. This Day. At the conference of the South Island Dairy Association a remit was adopted that the Department of Agriculture be urged to insist on a more strict observance of the dairy regulations, particularly those relating to the cooling of milk and the cleanliness of byres. -
l lt was stated that bad milk supplied was the cause of openness of cheese, and that the regulations had been a dead letter.
One delegation expressed the opinion that if the. regulations were strictly enforced it would cost many farmers £l5O to reconstruct their plants, and many would be driven from the industry. ' .
