Sir, —With reference to your report of the Rugby match Methven v. Old Boys in your issue of Monday, June 3, my club take strong exception to the following statement: "Methvenplayers continued to do their best maim their opponents, adopting tactics just within bounds." The tone of the report throughout is, to say the least, unpleasant and unjustified, as will be borne out by any fair-minded spectators. R. G. MAUGER, Hon. Sec, Methven Football Club.
