ASHBURTON TROTS.
EIGHT EVENTS TO-MORROW, THE SAPLING STAKES. Eight events wil] be got off at the, Ashburton racecourse to-morrow, when the Ashburton Trotting Club's winter meeting will be held. The popularity of the club seems in no way to have diminished, for acceptances in all events are again high, and again include horses of some merit. The New Zealand Sapling Stakes will also be run. For this event there are 10 acceptors, and patrons are looking forward to a good race. ' Arrangements have been completed, and good weather is all that is needed to assure the success of the meeting. The track has not been disturbed by heavy frosts in the last few days l and should be in tip-top order to-morrow. Special train arrangements have also been made, and the lisual large contingent is expected ' from the north. The first race is timed to start at 11.20 o'clock. A licensed booth will be on tire grounds.
