. METHVEN WHEAT AND STOCK. HEAVY TRAFFIC ON RAILWAY. Traffic on the branch railway line from Methven continues heavy. From Methven Station alone the figures for various classes for the year to June 6 are as follows: — Wheat 139,468 sacks Sheep 116,752 Cattle 1,084 Since June 1 to date, 7416 sacks of wheat have been forwarded and this represents smart work part of the haulage contractors and Railway Department, who are to be commended for handling this quantity so expeditiously. In addition to the quantities forwarded the local stores are almost full, representing a further 30,000 sacks. There are many thousands of sacks still on the farms, but it will be necessary for outside stores to be cleared before this can be sent away. These figures show the remarkable capability of the district for the production of wheat and sheep, the latter being all fat stock going to the various freezing works. , The totals do' not include stations below Methven, from which equally large Quantities of grain are 'being dispatclied.
