FLATS DESTROYED.
BIG FIRE IN MELBOURNE. 'United Press Association— Copyright.) MELBOURNE, December 27. A fire occurred in a large residential block in St. Kilda Road to-day and destroyed 14 out of 32 flats known as the Florida Flats. There were several thrilling rescues, firemen bringing out a number of women. They found Clive Delaney, aged 34, groping his way through the smoke at the top of a staircase and sent him down a fire escape, but not before he had been severely burned on the face and arms. He was sent to the hospital.—Australian Press Association.
