DAIRY PRODUCE
NO LIMIT TO SHIPMENTS. DECLINE IN THE OUTPUT. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 2G. The regulation of shipments of daily produce was considered _at the Daily Board’s meeting, but owing to reduced outputs on account of the dry weatliei, it was decided that no alteration be made in the arrangements approved earlier in the Season, that produce be shipped as available. . AVhilst there was a feeling that, in view of the market _ dullness, some change might be desirable, a difficulty exists in that contracts have been undertaken by dairy companies especially in connection with cheese, as far forward as end of April shipment. It dry weather continues, there will be a considerable shrinkage in the output. A satisfactory feature of the general position is the big extensions of business to countries outside Britain, ihe export of blitter to Canada, 86,000 boxes, in the 1926-7 season will reach 305,000 by the end of February. There is a feeling that Canadian buyers have somewhat over-estimated their requirements as butter stocks in Canada and the United States are high. Further business is now restricted, to cheese. The position is regarded as sound, buyers operating in New Zealand on a basis of. Bgd to B|d a lb., f.0.b., up to end of April shipment. The butter position, is difficult to estimate, as the export trade appears likely to diminish, while Australian, owing to abundant rain, has overtaken last year's export total. The tariff against New Zealand butter operates in June, and this means an increase in local prices in the Commonwealth. This may cause heavier storage for the local market, with a. corresponding reduction in the Commonwealth export.
